From the reviews
I have 3 boys that have attended the children's class since October 2023. In this short time I have found that my sons have grown in character and strength. They are excited for class and motivated to learn.
Our kids have been taking classes with the same coach for 2 years. We have enjoyed watching them grow and become better versions of themselves. All coaches here take a serious interest in all of the students and take their time explaining and communicating.
Agoge is top notch. Their talented coaches care and know how to teach and bring out the best in you. The members are like family who are always ready to welcome new people. The facility is clean and well cared for, with everything needed to train well.
This place is awesome. My stepson and I have been training here for a little bit now. There are several well experienced black belt coaches. Awesome environment for kids and adults. I have learned a lot in the past couple months, not only from the several coaches, but also higher skilled students.
Your first judo class at Dalton Combatives - American Jiu Jitsu / Judo / Kickboxing / Muay Thai
Nervous about walking into a judo dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good sensei expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, learning to fall safely (ukemi), then drilling a throw or two and some groundwork with a partner — not hard randori. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a judogi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner judogi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own judogi. Live randori eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
