From the reviews

Had the pleasure of dropping in while in town for work, everyone at New Breed was incredibly welcoming and kind, great rounds with everyone. I’ve been fortunate enough to train at some of the top gyms in the country, and New Breed is right up there with them.

★★★★★ — Matt, Jun 2025

I recently began my Brazilian jiu-jitsu journey, while my son Logan, aged 7, has been training at Newbreed Academy for nearly a year. Our experience has been exceptional. The community is warm and welcoming, and both my son and I have greatly enjoyed our time here.

★★★★★ — Dennis, Jan 2026

For all those who are thinking about joining Jiu Jitsu, New Breed Academy is the place to start your journey. For those who are willing to give what it takes. The coaches, The professors, and Master Jhonny, Are patient, Friendly, and truly amazing people in the Art and discipline of Jiu Jitsu.

★★★★★ — Moses, Mar 2026

I have been training on and off at newbreed since 2006. I've seen people come and go, some have been constant. It's a great training environment and the instructors are solid. Compared to other schools style of jiu jitsu, newbreed holds its own.

Your first judo class at New Breed Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness

Nervous about walking into a judo dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good sensei expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, learning to fall safely (ukemi), then drilling a throw or two and some groundwork with a partner — not hard randori. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a judogi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner judogi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own judogi. Live randori eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Judo is a contact sport. Ease in, tap early and often, listen to your sensei, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
