From the reviews
Awesome place, friendly people and knowledgeable instructors. Great place to exercise while learning the values of martial arts. No need to bore myself in the gym anymore, I just come on the mat, have fun, and keep in shape all at the same time!
I have been training at Shoshinkan for several years and absolutely love it. The instructors and the atmosphere they create are special and make for a unique opportunity for those looking to better themselves. This school offers Aikido, Judo, Japanese and Okinawan weapons as well as Karate.
My 15 year old takes classes here, and what he is learning is excellent. The teacher is clear in his instructions, which has lead to my son making rapid progress. This art form (Aikido) is unique, as it focuses less on an attack and more on safer ways to redirect the opponent's motion.
I walked into Shoshinkan Aikido while in Las Vegas for work. Having run my own Aikido Dojo in Florida I knew exactly what to look for. I have to say that the instructors and staff at Shoshinkan Aikido have it. They are well prepared to answer your questions and friendly.
Your first judo class at SHOSHINKAN - Las Vegas Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a judo dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good sensei expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, learning to fall safely (ukemi), then drilling a throw or two and some groundwork with a partner — not hard randori. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a judogi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner judogi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own judogi. Live randori eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
