From the reviews
Update 3/7/2019: Two reviewers, Christian and Lou, wrote misleading information and outright lies in their reviews of this school. Jack Sr. and Jack Jr. do not have contracts. They are not about money. I know for a fact that Jack Jr. makes financial accommodations for students when there is an issue or problem.
My children attended Krystek for a couple of years. We left only because we relocated to another State. If I'm being honest, the only thing we miss about New York is Krystek's. Here's why. We left about two years ago.
Very nice instructors that specialize in individual attention and care of students. And, not to mention - TOP practitioners in Judo and Jiu Jitsu. A really good place for children and beginners who might be a little nervous about starting a martial art.
I've been going to Krystek School of Judo for nearly 14 years. This place is serious about their commitment to the martial arts and self defense. Father and Son run; Krystek Judo definitely feels like this is more than just a school, but a way of life. Five Stars
Your first judo class at Krystek School of Judo, BJJ, Self Defense and Fitness
Nervous about walking into a judo dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good sensei expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, learning to fall safely (ukemi), then drilling a throw or two and some groundwork with a partner — not hard randori. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a judogi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner judogi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own judogi. Live randori eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
