From the reviews
My both kids 5 years old boy and 10 years old girl love to go to Sakura Judo for judo and chess classes. Sensei Dimitriy is one of the best children's coach I have ever seen, he keeps reasonable balance between games, exercises and practice taking into account the specifics of all participants.
I've been training at Sakura Judo for a couple of months now and I can confidently say that this is the best place to learn judo. Sensei Dima and my fellow judokas are all amazing people who are very supportive and willing to help you improve. The environment they create is fun and welcoming for anyone at any level.
The minute we walked in to a room it felt like we became part of the family. Sensei Dimitriy cares a lot about the kids and motivates them to work hard. He got my teenager to get up at 5:30am to workout with him. I couldn’t believe it!
This place is great; Sensei Dimitriy very knowledgeable and great with kids!! Strongly recommend! My 5 year old daughter has been going for a few months. My daughter is grappling and doing Judo moves; amazing.
Your first judo class at Sakura Judo
Nervous about walking into a judo dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and good sensei expect beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, learning to fall safely (ukemi), then drilling a throw or two and some groundwork with a partner — not hard randori. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a judogi if you have one); you'll train barefoot on the mats. What to bring: water and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner judogi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own judogi. Live randori eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
